What is sensory mix?
Sensory mix is the colorful, scoopable, pourable base used in sensory bins, trays, tables, and other hands-on play activities. It encourages children to explore different textures, practice fine motor skills, and use their imagination through open-ended play.
What are your sensory mixes made from?
Each sensory mix is thoughtfully handcrafted using a colorful blend of dry materials, including rice, pasta, beans, chickpeas, lentils, peas, and more. Every mix is unique and designed to create an engaging sensory experience.
What age are your products recommended for?
My sensory mixes are recommended for children ages 3 and older who are no longer mouthing objects. Because the fillers contain small pieces, adult supervision is always required during play.
Are your sensory mixes taste-safe?
No. While my mixes are created using food-based dry materials, they are not intended for eating. The materials are colored for play purposes and should always be used with adult supervision.
Are your sensory mixes safe?
Your child's safety is my top priority. Each sensory mix is handcrafted using dry materials such as rice, pasta, beans, chickpeas, lentils, peas, and more, and is colored with non-toxic ACMI AP Certified acrylic paints. The ACMI (Art & Creative Materials Institute) AP Certification indicates that these art materials have been evaluated by a board-certified toxicologist and are certified non-toxic when used as intended.
While my sensory mixes are made with child-friendly, non-toxic materials, they are not intended for consumption. All products are recommended for children ages 3 and older who are no longer mouthing objects and should always be used with adult supervision due to the presence of small parts.
How much sensory filler do I need?
The amount of sensory mix you need depends on the size of your sensory bin or play tray and how you'd like to play.
1 Cup – Perfect for sensory bottles, small play trays, or craft projects. It's also a great option if you'd like to try multiple themes!
3 Cups – Great for small sensory bins, such as a small TROFAST bin, or for individual play.
5 Cups – A wonderful everyday size for most sensory bins. Fills a large TROFAST bin with just enough filler for engaging sensory play.
9 Cups – Ideal for larger sensory bins, such as a large TROFAST bin. This size generously fills the bin, providing plenty of sensory filler for digging, scooping, pouring, and imaginative play. It's also perfect for siblings to enjoy together.
15 Cups – Best for sensory tables, classrooms, therapy settings, or lots of little hands exploring together!
How should I store my sensory mix?
Store your mix in a cool, dry place in an airtight container or resealable bag. Keeping moisture out will help it stay colorful and ready for many play sessions.
How long will my sensory mix last?
With proper care and dry storage, your sensory mix can be enjoyed again and again. If it becomes wet, dirty, or shows signs of mold or damage, it should be discarded.
Can I mix different mixes together?
Absolutely! Mixing colors and themes is a fun way to create brand-new sensory experiences. Many families enjoy combining seasonal mixes or adding loose parts and toys to extend imaginative play.
Are toys and accessories included?
Unless otherwise stated in the product description, listings include sensory mix only. Toys, scoops, bowls, loose parts, and containers shown in photos are used for styling and inspiration.
Do the colors transfer to hands?
My mixes are designed to minimize color transfer. However, because each batch is handcrafted, slight color transfer may occasionally occur, especially if the mix becomes damp or is handled with wet hands.
How long will it take to receive my order?
Processing times are listed on each product page. Once your order ships, you'll receive tracking information so you can follow its journey to your doorstep.
Do you accept returns?
Because of the handmade nature of my products, I do not accept returns or exchanges. However, if your order arrives damaged or there is a problem with your purchase, please contact me within 7 days of delivery so I can help make it right.
Can I request a custom sensory mix?
At this time, I am not accepting custom orders as I focus on creating new collections and keeping my shop well stocked. I hope to offer custom sensory mixes in the future, so be sure to check back for updates!
